The Metropolitan Police are prioritizing support for the women involved in the case against former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, who faces charges of five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy stated, “Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward.”
The alleged offenses occurred between 2021 and 2022, involving three women. Partey is set to appear in court on August 5.Furphy appealed for anyone with information to contact the police via.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorized the charges after reviewing evidence.
Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, maintains his innocence, saying, “Mr. Partey denies all the charges against him. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name.”
As a free agent after his Arsenal contract expired, Partey has had a notable career, making 53 appearances for Ghana’s Black Stars and scoring 15 goals.
