Police Ladies made history as they clinched their first-ever Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title with a 2-0 win over defending champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
The final, played at the University of Ghana Stadium, saw Jane Ayieyam open the scoring in the 27th minute after finishing off a lovely team move.
Ampem Darkoa, who were aiming for a third straight league title, fought hard to get back into the game but struggled to break down a solid Police defence. Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan also stood firm with some key saves.
Substitute Victoria Teye Williams sealed the win with a late goal in the 89th minute, sparking wild celebrations on the Police Ladies’ bench.
The victory ends Ampem Darkoa’s dominance and crowns a new champion in Ghana women’s football.
It’s a huge moment for Police Ladies, who have steadily improved over the years and now sit proudly at the top of the women’s game.
They will now represent Ghana at the WAFU B qualifiers for this year’s CAF Women’s Champions League.
