Ghanaian midfielder Lawrence Agyekum was on the scoresheet as Cercle Brugge thrashed Patro Eisden 5-1 in the first leg of the Belgian Pro League relegation playoff.
Agyekum, who recently made his senior debut for Ghana in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad, gave Brugge an early lead in the 8th minute after connecting with a pass from Felipe Augusto.
Cercle never looked back, with Paris Brunner scoring twice in the 25th and 46th minutes. Felipe Augusto then turned from provider to scorer, adding a fourth in the 58th minute, before Thibo Somers wrapped up the rout late on.
Patro Eisden grabbed a consolation through Vancy Romeo Mabanza, but the damage had already been done.
Agyekum, who has signed a four-year permanent deal with Cercle Brugge, now has three goals and two assists in 34 appearances this season.
Fellow Ghanaian Francis Abu also featured, playing 73 minutes in the convincing win.
