Sudan’s assistant coach Ignatius Osei Fosu has emphasized that their primary goal is to secure qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), rather than solely focusing on defeating Ghana in their upcoming qualifiers.
Speaking to the media, Fosu expressed confidence in Sudan’s preparation ahead of their crucial encounter on Thursday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.
“We’re here to play qualifiers. The team is well prepared and ready for the game,” he said.
‘We are here to play and qualify but not to beat Ghana. When we beat the Black Stars or not, our aim is to qualify for Morocco next year.”
Ghana, on the other hand, will be looking for their first win after a difficult start with a defeat against Angola and a draw against Niger in their opening Group F matches.
The Black Stars will face Sudan again in the return fixture on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
