525
Saturday evening brings us this upcoming fixture between last season’s runners-up in Ligue 1, Marseille, and their mid-table counterparts, Nantes, as the two teams face off at the Stade Orange Vélodrome with the hosts looking to extend their recent dominance over Nantes.
Marseille have won three out of the previous four meetings against the visitors which included doing the ‘double’ in last season’s campaign with a 1-0 win away from home before posting a 3-2 home win against Nantes towards the end of the season in April.

Last season was a successful one for Marseille who finished runners-up behind the usual suspects, PSG, and having lost just three of their last 13 matches overall, Marseille look in good shape to pick up where they left this season.
Indeed, Marseille are unbeaten in their first two games of this season, beating Reims 4-1 and drawing 1-1 away at Brest, so the hosts will be in confident mood as they prepare for the visit from Nantes on Saturday night.
Nantes finished in a creditable mid-table position of 9thy in last season’s Ligue 1 campaign and the visitors will be looking for at least more of the same here this term, if not pushing for a possible top five finish.
However, much of last season’s success was built upon a solid record on home soil which saw Nantes lose just four games throughout the whole campaign but too many draws have held the visitors back in recent times.
Nantes have been involved in no fewer than six stalemates within their last 10 matches overall in the French top flight while picking up just two wins out of these last 10 games overall, both of which were on home soil with wins against Bordeaux and Rennes.
Switch to results away from home and you’ll find that Nantes have won just one of their last 10 outings on the road, while also slipping to five defeats in the process, so this could be a tough trip for the visitors.
Marseille have held the upper hand over Nantes in previous exchanges as they’ve won the last two meetings on the trot (3-2 at home and a 1-0 win away) but it is still early days in this new Ligue 1 season and Nantes may just sneak a point here.
