Hearts of Oak have announced the return of their head coach, Slavko Matic, after a brief absence.
The club confirmed that Matic left Ghana on January 2 for medical attention in his native country of Serbia, following the team’s 2-1 defeat to Bechem United on New Year’s Day.
The Phobians said in a statement on Friday morning that, Matic is expected to resume work with the squad today, as they prepare for their upcoming game against FC Samartex on Sunday.
“Coach Matic is back from Serbia . He is expected to resume work today with the squad,” the statement said on social media.
“Welcome back to Ghana, Coach Matic.”

During Matic’s absence, deputy coach David Ocloo led the team to one win and one draw against Tamale City FC and King Faisal.
Currently, Hearts of Oak sit in third place on the league table with 19 points, four points behind league leaders Aduana FC.
The team will be looking to make a strong comeback under Matic’s leadership as they continue to compete for the top spot in the league.
