Nottingham Forest to edge Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground

Nottingham Forest are 16th in the Premier League standings and go into Saturday’s crunch fixture with 13th-place Wolverhampton Wanderers needing a win to distance themselves from the bottom three.

Saturday’s match at the City Ground is a massive six-point relegation battle between Forest and Wolves. Just three points separate Wolverhampton from the relegation zone. Forest are two points above the bottom three.

Nottingham Forest’s saving grace could be their home form. The Reds are far better at home than on the road. Forest have a record of 5W-5D-4L at the City Ground.

Wolves are on a two-game losing streak on the road. The Old Gold won just two of their opening 14 away games this season. Opponents outscored Wolverhampton 22-10 during the Old Gold’s 14 away matches.

Saturday’s six-point relegation clash will be the third meeting of the campaign between Nottingham Forest and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves won 1-0 at home in the league and drew 1-1 at the City Ground in the League Cup. Forest went on to win the League Cup tie on penalties.

Nottingham Forest went into the international break on a poor run of form. The Reds picked up just two points from the last six matches, scoring five goals and conceding 14. They faced the likes of Newcastle, Tottenham, and Manchester City during that poor run.

Wolverhampton Wanderers only took four points from the last six matches in the league. They also struggled to score, bagging five goals and conceding 10 times.

Forest manager Steve Cooper has an unbelievable list of injured players going into the game. Centre-back Wily Boly, goalkeeper Dean Henderson, defender Scott McKenna, striker Taiwo Awoniyi, defender Omar Richards, and midfielder Giuliani Biancone are all ruled out of the match due to injuries.

In addition, Cooper could be without Andre Ayew, Chris Woods, Ryan Yates, Emmanuel Dennis, and Brennan Johnson. Of all the injured players, Cooper will be desperate to get Johnson fit. He is currently listed as potentially being available. The forward leads the team in goals with seven.

Wolverhampton are a poor road team. Forest, on the other hand, play well at home and went unbeaten in five of their last six matches at the City Ground.

Forest and Wolves have scored the joint-fewest goals in the league this season. Saturday’s game is a must-win for both relegation-battling sides. Nottingham Forest should just edge their relegation rivals, 2-1 at the City Ground.
