Nations FC have booked their place in the quarter-finals of this year’s MTN FA Cup after a 2–1 victory over Swedru All Blacks in their Round of 16 clash on Saturday.
The encounter, played at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, ended in favour of the Abrankese-based side, who did enough to secure progression to the last eight of the competition.
Nations FC struck in both halves to overcome their Ghana Premier League opponents. Swedru All Blacks had hoped the experience of newly appointed coach Kassim Mingle would inspire an upset, but Nations FC proved the stronger side on the day.
The result sees coach Frimpong Manso’s men advance to the quarter-final stage, while the All Blacks exit the competition. Nations FC will now aim to build momentum as the race for the trophy intensifies.
With the win, Nations FC’s ambition of lifting the FA Cup for the first time in their history remains firmly alive.
