Former Ghana youth international Najeeb Yakubu has alleged that GFA President Kurt Okraku sabotaged his Ghana national team career after he refused to sign for Dreams FC.
Najeeb was part of Niger squad that secured a 2-1 win against the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
He was part of a Black Meteors team that had been selected for a tournament in Japan, but he could not make the trip after officials for the national team allegedly decided to leave out his passport from the pile submitted to the Embassy.
“I think it’s the GFA president Kurt [Okraku who took out my name from the U23 squad that travelled to Japan in 2021 for the friendlies]. I think he has a personal problem with me.
“When I was in the U-17, he [Kurt Okraku] wanted me to join his team, Dreams Fc. Unfortunately, I couldn’t join his team [and he took it personal]. he said
Najeeb first represented Ghana at the FIFA Under-17 World Youth Championships in 2017.
After representing Ghana at the youth level, he switched allegiance to play for Niger.
