Nations FC head coach, Kassim Mingle Ocansey, has blamed a poor start for his team’s 2-0 loss to Hearts of Oak on Friday in match week 32 of the Ghana Premier League.
Nations FC’s defeat continued their poor run in the latter part of the 2023/2024 season, with the team managing just one win in their last seven league games.
They have recorded two draws and four losses during this period, currently ranking fourth in the league.
Hearts of Oak secured the victory with early goals from Kassim Cisse and Hamza Issah in the 10th and 15th minutes, respectively. In his post-game press conference, Ocansey lamented his team’s sluggish start.
“It’s unfortunate we lost. We conceded two quick goals; that’s what happened. After we conceded the goals, our boys started playing well.
“They lost focus at the start, conceded two quick goals, and only after that did they wake up and start playing. Unfortunately, we couldn’t equalize.”
The victory lifted Hearts of Oak to the 11th spot in the league, up from 15th, following their previous 2-0 loss to archrival Asante Kotoko.
