Montpellier HSC vs Paris St. Germain – 01/02/2023

PSG to get back to winning ways at Montpellier

1700

On Wednesday night, Montpellier hosts reigning French champions PSG at the Stade de la Mosson as the visitors look to get back to winning ways in Ligue One.

The home side’s form has been poor in all competitions of late. However, they ended a four-game losing streak last time out by recording a 2-0 win over Auxerre.

The game also ended a poor defensive run for Montpellier in the French top flight, as they had conceded at least two goals in their previous four outings in Ligue One.

The win over Auxerre could prove to be a vital one, as it moved Montpellier five points clear of the relegation zone in the French top flight.

Montpellier’s home form has not helped their chances of moving away from the relegation zone, as they are winless in their previous five Ligue One matches, having suffered four defeats in the process.

The Parisian’s recent form has been unusually inconsistent by their consistency standards from recent seasons. Last time out, Reims held Christophe Galtier’s side to a 1-1 draw.

The result means that the reigning champions have won just two of their last four matches in all competitions. It also means that PSG has won just once in their previous four Ligue One games.

The unconvincing run of league form has seen second-place Lens move to within two points of the reigning champions at the top of the Ligue One table.

Although PSG has lost back-to-back away games in Ligue One, the reigning champions have still won eight of their last 11 matches on their travels in the French top-flight.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that PSG will get back to winning ways in a high-scoring encounter to boost their chances of retaining the Ligue One crown.
