Montpellier are fresh off a 4-2 defeat to newly-promoted Toulouse in Ligue 1. Now, they will host high-flying Monaco to kick off Ligue 1 action on Sunday afternoon.

Monaco are on a four-game winning streak in Ligue 1 and go into round No. 10 six points off the top two. Les Monegasque claimed a 4-1 home win against Nantes last weekend to continue their fine form in the league.

Montpellier won this fixture last season 3-2. It was Montpellier’s second win in the last six matches against Monaco in all competitions. Prior to their win against Monaco at home last season, Montpellier had failed to win four straight games versus Les Monegasque.

La Paillade took nine points from the last six games in Ligue 1. It is a decent total, however, Montpellier lost three of their last four matches in the French top flight.

They outscored their last six opponents 15-10 in Ligue 1. However, their poor run of recent form saw their last four games end with both teams scoring and over 2.5 goals.

Monaco picked up 13 points from the last six games in a Ligue 1. They outscored their last six opponents 13-7. Monaco are Ligue 1’s second-best away team after four games.

They have 10 points from 12 on the road this season and are yet to lose away from the Stade Louis II.

Manager Philippe Clement has two injured players ahead of the match with Montpellier. Defenders Ruben Aguilar and Willem Geubbels are both nursing injuries and the duo could miss the game.

Montpellier manager Olivier Dall’Oglio has six players on the injury list ahead of the weekend. Defenders Maxime Esteve and Faitout Maouassa are both doubts due to their injury issues. Goalkeeper Jonas Omlin is a major doubt following a groin strain.

Theo Sainte-Luce and Dimitry Bertaud are both ruled out of the game following knee injuries. Neither player will return until April at the earliest. Defender Pedro Mendes could miss the game following a muscle injury.

Monaco are led in goals by Wissam Ben Yedder with four in the league. The striker could get on the scoresheet this weekend against a defence that conceded four times to Toulouse last weekend.

Montpellier are led in scoring by Sepe Elye Wahi. He has five goals in nine games.

Monaco are in excellent form with four straight wins. They should outplay Montpellier on the road and post a fifth straight victory in Ligue 1. Les Monegasque should get a 2-1 win to improve their chances of a top-three finish.
