Slovenia-based midfielder Abdul Rashid Fuseini says earning a call-up to the Black Stars remains the ultimate target in his football journey.
The 21-year-old previously featured for Ghana’s U-17 team, lining up alongside the likes of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Uzair Alhassan during a WAFU tournament in Niger in 2018.
Now playing for NK Tabor in Slovenia, Fuseini believes donning the national team jersey at the senior level would be a defining moment.
“Right now, that’s my main goal… to play for the Black Stars,” he told Joy Sports. “Because if you have a Black Star stamp on your profile on Transfermarkt, it’s something you look at and feel happy.”
Fuseini’s early promise saw him earn trial stints with several Premier League sides, including Sheffield United, Wolves, Manchester United, and Brentford.
However, those opportunities didn’t materialise into contracts due to age-related restrictions.
After a spell with Serbian side Backa Topola, the former Shooting Stars prospect moved to Slovenia in 2023.
Since then, he has focused on rebuilding his career and is hopeful a senior national team breakthrough is not far off.
