Former Ghanaian football legend Mohammed Polo has issued a stern warning to Black Stars midfielder Kudus Mohammed, advising him to reconsider wearing the iconic number 10 jersey due to its perceived spiritual connotations.
Kudus recently donned the number 10 shirt and captained Ghana in their two-legged 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
However, the team’s disappointing performance, including a goalless draw and a 2-0 loss, has left Ghana on the brink of missing next year’s tournament.
Speaking to Connect 97.1 FM, Polo urged Kudus to reconsider his choice of jersey, citing past spiritual concerns associated with it.
‘We all remember what Kwadwo Asamoah came out to say sometime ago about the number 10 shirt sometime ago. The dreams he said he was having and all.
“If Kudus is not strong spiritually, he should just stop wearing the number 10 jersey and go back to his 20 jersey because there is a lot in that jersey,” Polo indicated
Ghana’s hopes of qualifying for next year’s AFCON in Morocco are hanging by a thread, with just two points from four matches.
The Black Stars must win their remaining games against already-qualified Angola and Niger, while hoping that Sudan falters, to keep their chances alive.
