Mohammed Kudus reflects on his extraordinary individual goal against SC Freiburg, deeming it a potential pinnacle in his professional football journey.
The Ghana midfielder shared his sentiments with West Ham’s media outlet after his stellar performance, which saw him score twice in The Hammers’ resounding 5-0 triumph over the German outfit at London Stadium on Thursday evening, securing a commanding 5-1 aggregate victory and progressing to the Europa League quarterfinals.
In the 77th minute of the contest, Kudus embarked on a dazzling solo run from midfield, effortlessly bypassing three Freiburg defenders before calmly dispatching the ball into the net with his right foot.
He later capped off his stellar display with a second goal in the 85th minute.
Reflecting on his remarkable individual effort, Kudus remarked, “I believe so [it ranks among my top five goals]. I’ll have to review it again. It’s one of my aspirations as a player, taking on defenders and attempting to conjure something out of nothing, so when I found myself with space, I thought let’s go for it.”
Looking forward, Mohammed Kudus and his West Ham United comrades are gearing up to take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League quarterfinals.
