Black Stars winger Joseph Paintsil has clarified his absence from the national team’s upcoming friendly matches due to his recent transfer to Major League Soccer giants, LA Galaxy.
The winger revealed that he is currently undergoing immigration documentation procedures, which prevent him from traveling outside the United States until the process is complete.
In a statement on social media, Paintsil expressed his regret at being unable to join the squad for the friendly games but assured that he had communicated the reasons for his absence to the team’s management.
Despite not being able to participate, he extended his best wishes to the new head coach, Otto Addo, his teammates, and the entire team for the upcoming matches.
“ Unable to Join the Ghana Squad As a result of my very recent move to a new club in the United States, there are some further immigration documentation procedures I have to go through, which is why I am unable to travel outside the United States until the process is completed.
For this reason, I am unable join the squad for the upcoming friendly games. I have duly communicated the reasons for my absence from the national team to management.
I wish the new head coach Otto Addo, my colleagues and the entire team the best in this upcoming hurdle. Ghana holds a special place in my heart, and I am always ready to defend and represent the country” he wrote in a post on X.
Ghana will take on Nigeria on Friday, March 22, before facing Uganda four days later.
