18th and 10th will meet in Serie B this season as two sides who were expected to fight for promotion back into Serie A battle it out with Modena set to welcome Venezia to the Alberto Braglia Stadium on Thursday afternoon with the home side right back in the win column.

After a very slow start to the latest season in Serie B, Modena have finally turned a corner and have rocketed up the league after a run that has seen them not lose in four games since a 2-0 loss at home to Palermo.

The club would draw with Cittadella this time last month, before a 1-1 draw with Perugia moved them onto a four-game winless run in the league.

Modena managed to beat Parma away from home soon after, however, to break into the top half of the table. The club have now stayed there after the stunning scenes in the 3-2 win away to SPAL.

Modena took the lead before the game getting levelled at 1-1, but David Marsura scored a penalty in the 96th minute to win the game, meaning SPAL’s goal in the 97th minute meant very little.

Davide Diaw was sent off that day for Modena and he is now set to miss this game following his straight red card.

They are now sitting 10th with six wins on the board and a record of 22 goals scored and only 21 let in. On the other hand, with seven defeats so far in Serie B, only those inside the bottom six have lost the same, while Perugia and Venezia are the only two teams to actually lose more games than them.

As for Venezia, they have won two in a row for the first time this season recently, following on from a 1-0 win away to Palermo and a narrow 2-1 victory on home soil against Ternana.

Nevertheless, they still sit 18th and have to win here or get a point in order to move out of the relegation zone.

It’s set to be quite a close game with Modena’s recent form. However, Venezia have been arguably the most underwhelming team in Serie B this season and there is little to suggest that they will win here.

The club have also been one of the worst away teams this season and there is no reason to suggest they will win here and Forebet predicts a victory for Modena and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
