Medeama SC closed the gap on leaders Aduana FC to two points – after securing a 2-1 win over Bechem United at Akoon Park on Monday. The mauves and yellows went into the game looking for a win to continue their title hunt and ended up with a fine display to beat their opponents.

Kofi Babil started alongside Jonathan Sowah in attack with Vincent Atinga, Fatawu Hamidu, Kwadwo Amoako and Abdulai Nurudeen constituting the backline of Medeama SC.

After an explosive start to the game, Jonathan Sowah scored the opening goal for Medeama SC after beautifully controlling a sumptuous pass from Derrick Fordjuor in the 18th minute.

Vincent Atinga added the second goal in the 33rd minute as he got on the end of a well delivered corner kick to score his 10th goal of the season.

The home side went into the break with a 2-0 lead but the visitors looked solid after the break as they pressed for a comeback. Francis Acquah pulled one back for Bechem United in the 82nd minute but Medeama SC held on to win 2-1 at home.

The win takes Medeama SC to the second spot with 50 points – two points behind leaders Aduana FC who are on 52 points.
