Ghanaian midfielder Mawuli Mensah has joined AD Ceuta from Real Zaragoza on a free transfer, beginning a new LaLiga2 chapter at the age of 22.

The central midfielder has signed a contract with Ceuta running until 30 June 2028. He officially completed the move on 21 August 2026, switching clubs within Spain after spending the previous part of the season with Zaragoza in Primera Federacion.

Mensah arrives with experience across Spain’s professional divisions. He has made 76 appearances in Segunda Federacion, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists, while also featuring 31 times in Primera Federacion and 13 times in LaLiga2.

The Ghanaian spent the latter part of the 2025-26 season at Zaragoza, having joined the club from Betis Deportivo on a free transfer on 2 February 2026. His move to Ceuta represents his latest step in Spanish football after previously playing for Antequera CF.

Mensah joined Betis Deportivo from Antequera in July 2023 in a €60,000 transfer. Before moving to Spain, he had played for Ghanaian club Shooting Stars, leaving for Antequera in January 2022 on a free transfer.

Born in Accra on 15 November 2003, Mensah stands at 1.72m and operates primarily in central midfield. He is also a right-footed player.

His record in the Spanish lower divisions includes a further three appearances and one goal in promotion play-offs, adding to his experience of competitive football outside the top flight. He has also registered appearances in LaLiga2, giving him familiarity with the level at which Ceuta will compete.

Ceuta have secured Mensah without a transfer fee, with the midfielder’s move from Zaragoza confirmed as part of the club’s squad for the 2026-27 season.

Mensah has completed his free transfer to AD Ceuta and is contracted to the LaLiga2 club until 2028.
