On Saturday afternoon, Malaga and Ponferradina clash in the Spanish Segunda as both teams search for vital points at the wrong end of the second-tier table.

The home team are enduring a nightmare campaign in the Segunda, as they are currently bottom of the table, having picked up just 11 points from their 16 games league matches so far this season. The poor start to the league campaign has left Malaga six points adrift of safety.

Pepe Mel’s team has won just one of their previous 13 matches in the Spanish second tier, including failing to win in their last five league games.

Their recent Segunda games have been low-scoring affairs, as eight of their ten matches have produced under 2.5 goals.

Malaga has a woeful recent home record in the Segunda, as they have won just once in their previous 19 league matches at the Estadio La Rosaleda.

The visitors are just a point above the relegation zone, having enjoyed a slightly stronger league campaign than the home team.

Jose Gomes’ team has claimed just one win from their previous ten matches in the Segunda, though. Last time out in the league, they drew 1-1 at home against Real Oviedo.

Their recent league games have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their previous eight matches in the Spanish second tier.

Unsurprisingly, Ponferradina has a poor recent away record in the Spanish top flight, having failed to win in five league games on their travels while suffering four defeats in the process.

The fact that the visitors have conceded at least two goals in four of their last five away games has been a big contributing factor to the poor away form of late.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that these two teams will play out a low-scoring draw, which will do neither team’s chances of climbing the table much good.
