Liverpool agree deal to sign Dutch-Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong

Liverpool have agreed to sign Dutch-Ghanaian defender Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, per numerous sources, to replace defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid.

The Reds will pay Frimpong’s £35 million release clause, and he is expected to sign a contract until 2030 after undergoing a medical.

Frimpong, known for his attacking prowess, has been instrumental for Leverkusen, scoring 5 goals and providing 12 assists in 48 appearances this season.

His consistent performances over the past two seasons have made him a key player for the Bundesliga side.

The defender’s departure from Leverkusen was hinted at when he didn’t feature in their recent 2-2 draw against Mainz 05.

With Alexander-Arnold’s impending departure, Frimpong’s arrival is crucial for Liverpool’s defensive lineup and overall team dynamics. The transfer is set to bolster Liverpool’s chances of success in the upcoming season.
