Can Arsenal remain in first place in PL with win versus Leeds United?

Arsenal are fresh off a dramatic 3-2 win against Liverpool at the Emirates on matchday No. 9 in the Premier League. The Gunners will travel to Elland Road to face off with Leeds United on Sunday, as they seek to remain in first place.

Mikel Arteta’s team are one point above second-place Manchester City. The Cityzens face Liverpool on Sunday. A win for Arsenal could see them extend their lead at the top of the table if Man City drop points.

Leeds United started the season in great form but they have dipped significantly in recent weeks. The Whites are 14th in the league and just three points above the relegation zone. Leeds United are winless in the last five games in the league.

Since 2020, Leeds United and Arsenal played six times in all competitions. Arsenal went unbeaten in the six fixtures posting five wins and a draw.

Last season, Arsenal went to Elland Road and won 4-1. The Gunners won the reverse fixture as well by a 2-1 score.

The Gunners took 15 points from the last six games in the league. They scored 24 goals and conceded six times across the last six matches.

Gabriel Jesus has five goals this season for Arsenal. The striker has contributed 22% of Arsenal’s scoring. Gabriel Martinelli has added four goals this term and has contributed 17% of the Gunners’ goals.

Leeds United took a mere five points from the last six games in the top flight. They were outscored 9-7 in the last six matches.

Forward Rodrigo leads the team in goals with four this season. Luis Sinisterra has two goals for the Whites. However, Sinisterra won’t play on Sunday due to a red-card suspension. Goalscoring is an issue for Leeds United, as they have just 11 goals this term.

Manager Jesse Marsch will be without Stuart Dallas due to a thigh injury and Adam Forshaw with an ankle injury. Archie Gray and Leo Hjelde are also set to miss the game through injury. Hector Firpo could return in time to make the squad.

Mikel Arteta will be without Emile Smith Rowe due to a groin strain. Mohamed Elneny will miss the game due to a thigh injury. Full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko has a calf injury and will miss the fixture at Elland Road.

Arsenal are on a three-game winning streak in the league, while Leeds United are struggling. The Gunners should post a 1-0 win to stay on top of the table after 10 rounds.
