Kwesi Appiah urges Black Stars to recover after missing 2025 AFCON

Former Ghana international Kwesi Appiah is urging the Black Stars to bounce back strongly after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This marks the first time in two decades that Ghana will miss out on the tournament.

The Black Stars finished bottom of Group F with just three points from six games.

“When the draw placed Ghana in our group, l did several interviews where l said l hoped both Ghana and Sudan would qualify,” he told GTV Sports Plus.

“Its unfortunate Ghana couldn’t make it. As a Ghanaian am not happy about that, but football has evolved and every country needs to prepare well for the competition. I hope Ghana learns from this and comes back stronger in future tournaments.”

The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
