Asante Kotoko may have to face Hearts of Oak this weekend without striker Kwame Opoku, who remains a doubt ahead of the eagerly awaited Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The forward has been sidelined since picking up an injury on the opening day of the season against Berekum Chelsea.
Though he recently resumed training, Kotoko’s technical bench insists the 26-year-old is not yet ready for full competition.
“To be honest with you, Sunday is too early for him, Kwame Opoku,” Assistant coach Prince Yaw Owusu said.
“We just have to prepare and prepare him well so that when he comes back, he comes to stay.”
With Opoku’s return delayed, Morifin Donzo is set to lead the Porcupine Warriors’ attack once again, following Albert Amoah’s recent move to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi.
The clash against Hearts carries extra weight, as both teams head into the encounter protecting unbeaten records in the Ghana Premier League.
Hearts of Oak have collected four wins and four draws, while Kotoko trail closely with three wins and two draws, promising another classic in Ghana’s most storied football rivalry.
