Asante Kotoko is set to undergo significant changes following a season that ended with FA Cup success under interim coach Karim Zito, Communications director Sarfo Duku confirmed.
Despite winning the FA Cup final 1-0 against Golden Kick FC, the team’s overall performance fell short of expectations.
According to spokesperson Sarfo Duku, the club believes a fresh approach is needed, and several players are expected to leave.
“We are going to plan for the African campaign in terms of finances. We will soon effect changes in the team. Players who were unable to meet our expectations will be shown the exit door,” Duku said.
He added, “In the next few days, some players will leave the club.”
The changes come as Kotoko prepares for both domestic and continental duties in the new season.
After presenting the FA Cup trophy to their life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace, the club is now focused on revamping their squad. With a return to continental football, Kotoko aims to strengthen their team and make a positive impact in upcoming competitions.
