The Chairman of Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, has cautioned that significant changes could be made within the club should the team fail to secure victories in their next two matches.
Kotoko are preparing to host Aduana FC in the MTN FA Cup Round of 16 on Sunday, February 8, at the Baba Yara Stadium, following a disappointing 3–1 defeat to Heart of Lions at the Kpando Sports Stadium last weekend.
The Porcupine Warriors will then turn their attention to their fiercest rivals, Hearts of Oak, in a crucial Matchday 22 Ghana Premier League fixture scheduled for the following weekend.
Currently sitting fifth on the league table with 34 points, Nana Apinkrah has made it clear that poor results in both games could trigger sweeping decisions affecting the technical team, playing body and club management.
“If we fail to beat Aduana FC and Hearts of Oak, major changes will occur within the team, including the players, technical staff, and management,” he said, as reported by Akoma FM.
Asante Kotoko head into the fixtures as defending champions of the FA Cup, increasing the pressure on the team to deliver positive results.
