Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Ogum, didn’t hold back his criticism of the referee’s performance in their recent match against Nsoatreman, where they suffered a frustrating 1-0 defeat.
The only goal of the game was scored by Stephen Diyou for Nsoatreman in the 41st minute, and the frustration escalated for Asante Kotoko when their defender, Henry Ansu, received a red card in the 43rd minute.
Ogum voiced his displeasure with the referee’s decisions, stating, “The goal was scored, and the players were there, so they saw it better from where I was, and what I saw was what the players also saw.”
He continued, “And we had the right to go there and complain to the referee. They complained, and he decided that, upon their complaint, he would even penalize us further by giving us a red card.”
Ogum raised the possibility of an offside, suggesting that if it was indeed an offside and Ansu complained about it, then it was up to the spectators to judge. He emphasized that he would defer to the judgment of the people who had witnessed the incident, leaving it to Ghanaians to make their own assessment.
