Ghanaian forward Koby Arthur has signed for English National League side Leamington FC after earning a contract with the club during a successful trial ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 30-year-old striker, who was born in Kumasi, Ghana, featured throughout Leamington’s pre-season preparations and helped the Brakes win the Illum Davis Foundation Trophy in Guernsey.
Arthur’s performances convinced Leamington manager Scott Easterlow that the experienced forward could play an important role for the club, although Easterlow believes he must find greater consistency in his performances.
“Kobes is a player with great ability; he just needs to find his best form on a regular basis. He’s had a little setback in pre-season with injury, but he’s showed us more than enough of what he’s capable of,” Easterlow said.
Arthur began his professional career at Birmingham City, joining the club’s academy before progressing to the first team. He made his senior debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The forward subsequently gained experience in the National League and League Two during loan spells with Lincoln City and Cheltenham Town. After leaving Birmingham City, he joined Macclesfield Town.
Arthur was part of the Macclesfield side that won the National League title, a campaign in which he played a key role. He later continued his career in the English non-league game with a number of clubs, including Kidderminster Harriers, Dover Athletic, Maidenhead United and Hereford.
In more recent seasons, Arthur has represented Stourbridge, Rushall Olympic, Barwell, Bromsgrove Sporting and Darlaston Town, building further experience across England’s lower divisions.
His move to Leamington gives the Ghanaian another opportunity to establish himself at National League level after a career that has included academy football, the professional game and an extensive spell in the non-league system.
Leamington will begin the 2026/27 season with Arthur among their attacking options after his pre-season involvement and successful trial. The club’s management will hope he can reproduce the ability he showed during his early career and contribute regularly after recovering from his recent injury setback.
For Arthur, the move marks a return to the level at which he previously competed with Macclesfield Town, Lincoln City and Cheltenham Town. His experience with clubs across England’s lower divisions will also add to the squad’s depth as Leamington prepare for the new campaign.
