Kim Lars Bjorkegren, head coach of the Black Queens, has selected a 24-player squad for upcoming friendlies against Ivory Coast.
The team is preparing for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in July. Ghana will play two friendlies against Ivory Coast in Abidjan on May 30 and June 2.
Bjorkegren’s squad combines foreign-based stars and top-performing players from the Women’s league.
The team recently concluded a nine-day training session dominated by home-based players. The Black Queens are returning to the continental championship for the first time since 2018 after missing the last two editions.
Ghana is drawn in Group C with defending champions South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania. The friendlies will serve as crucial preparation for the team as they aim to make a strong impression in the tournament. With a talented squad, the Black Queens are expected to put up a good fight in the competition. The matches against Ivory Coast will provide valuable experience and help the team fine-tune their skills before the big tournament.
