Kotoko coach Abdul Karim Zito has reaffirmed his opposition to ball-playing goalkeepers, saying it has contributed to the improvement in his team’s goalkeeping department.

Following a 4-1 win over Dreams FC, Zito praised his goalkeeper coach Joe Baah’s hard work, which he credits for the team’s goalkeeping progress.

Zito, who has previously worked with goalkeepers Felix Annan and Philemon McCarthy, criticized goalkeepers like Andre Onana who venture out of the box.

He emphasized that goalkeepers should focus on their primary role as the last line of defense. “They are the last line of defense and the first line of attack,” Zito said in his post match conference after Kotoko beat Dreams FC.

The veteran coach believes that goalkeepers play a crucial role in the team’s success and attributed Kotoko’s goalkeeping improvement to his coach’s daily work with the team.

Zito’s stance on traditional goalkeeping styles appears to be paying off, with his team’s goalkeeping department showing signs of improvement.

His approach to goalkeeping development is clear, and he is confident in his team’s abilities.
