German second-tier club Karlsruher SC are weighing up a January loan move for Ghana international defender Stephan Ambrosius as they look to strengthen their squad.

The 27-year-old is currently on the books of Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen, where opportunities have been limited this season.

Ambrosius joined the Swiss club on a three-year contract in the summer of 2024 after leaving former Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV.

However, his campaign has been disrupted by a prolonged injury spell, making it difficult to secure regular minutes.

Reports from German media suggest Karlsruher SC see the centre-back as a strong option to bolster their defensive unit for the second half of the season.

A local Karlsruhe publication indicates the club’s recruitment focus is firmly on adding experience and depth at the back.

Ambrosius has managed just four league appearances so far and has often been named among the substitutes at the Kybunpark.
