Juan Mata open to Premier League stay

Departing Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata is open to Premier League stay.

The Spaniard has been one of the players released by United as manager Erik ten Hag starts his rebuild and with earlier reports that the player wanted to return to Spain, the Times indicates that the player is keen on staying in the Premier League should the right offer come his way.

The 34-year-old who has previously had a stint with Chelsea considers England his second home but it isn’t clear if there is any team that has expressed an interest in having him in the English top flight.

A return to Spain with Valencia has been reported even though the team’s financial problems might see the deal collapse; the player indicated earlier in the season that he still wanted to play when people thought he would be venturing into coaching.

Since joining the Red Devils in 2014 the Spaniard has made 285 appearances and scored 51 goals and hardly played for United last season.
