Jong AZ Alkmaar vs Jong Ajax – 17/11/2022

Jong AZ Alkmaar to Beat Jong Ajax This Thursday

5968

It’s one of the biggest games of the Eerste Divisie each time it comes around as two reserves teams of Eredivisie giants meet in the league with both sides facing underwhelming seasons so far and in need of a return to winning form with both further down the table than previously hoped for.

In reality, neither side can get promoted out of this league because of how they are a reserve team, but this is always a way to look at future prospects for Eredivisie sides.

Ajax, however, are heading into this game having registered five of each outcome so far with five draws, five losses and five wins. The inconsistencies are clear to see with 29 goals scored and 27 let in from Ajax, meaning a goals difference of just +2 – this is the lowest inside the top 10.

Worse yet for Jong Ajax, they head into this game with just one win in the past month, and even in these two victories since early October, they have only narrowly managed to finish the game with all three points.

The club defeated Almere back on October 24 and won the game 3-2 with a late goal. Dordrecht were the next victims of a win for Jong Ajax, as they won the game only 4-3.

On the other hand, with a 4-4 draw against Den Bosch and a 1-1 tie with VVV in late October, they have actually only lost one game so far, as Willem II beat the club 2-1 at home.

It means a poor run of form for Jong Ajax and there is very little hope of them being able to rocket themselves further into the top 10 based on the current form.

As for Jong AZ, they are on seven wins so far compared to Ajax’s five. At the same time, they have let in only 20 goals so far this season with 25 of their own scored, meaning they do head into this game in much better form.

Better yet, AZ have won two of their past three games, defeating Roda and VVV before a loss to TOP Oss.

The club are sixth in the table, however, and will need to find some consistency if they are to challenge those in the top six. On the other hand, they are just three points behind Eindhoven in fourth and there is a chance they move ahead of them in the table with a favourable result here and elsewhere.

Forebet predicts a win for AZ and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
