Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has insisted that he has not retired from active football and hopes to make the grades for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Gyan, 36, has been passive on the field of play since leaving Legon Cities in mid-2021 and hasn’t played for the Black Stars since July 2019 in the AFCON tournament hosted by Egypt.

Despite staying inactive for a lengthy period, the former Sunderland and Al Ain forward insists he has not retired from football and still hopes to play at the Mundial.
