German-born Ghanaian defender Patric Pfeiffer faces a setback as he is expected to sit out FC Augsburg’s upcoming home game against SC Freiburg due to persistent muscular issues in his thigh.

The 24-year-old has been struggling with this injury for an extended period, causing him to miss out on squad nominations during their recent match against Mainz.

According to reports from the Augsburger Allgemeine, Coach Jess Thorup expressed concerns about Pfeiffer’s availability for the upcoming fixture, stating, “We’ll do a second shot, but it will be difficult for the weekend.”

The defender is expected to return in March 2024. He has made six appearances and assisted one goal in the German Bundesliga this season.

Patric Pfeiffer’s absence could be a blow to FC Augsburg’s defensive lineup, as they seek to secure a crucial victory against SC Freiburg at the WWK Arena.

FC Augsburg is 14th on the league table with 22 points after 22 games.
