Athletic Club forward Inaki Williams says he is experiencing the best moment in his career because of the decision to play for Ghana at the senior level after years of neglect by Spain.
In an interview with Club del Deportista, Williams shared these sentiments following Athletic Bilbao’s recent 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.
During the match, Williams played while his younger brother, Nico Williams, was sidelined due to muscle overload in his right leg.
Born in Spain to Ghanaian parents, Inaki had the option to play for either country but ultimately selected Ghana, despite only scoring one goal in 17 appearances.
“Admittedly, things didn’t unfold as we all hoped but both in terms of sports and personally, it has been beneficiary for me. In fact, I believe I am experiencing one of my best moments, thanks to this decision.”
On Saturday, Inaki Williams will be looking to win a trophy when they take on Mallorca in the Copa del Rey final.
