Alexandra Emefa Tay, Black Queens defender, says she received her national team call-up amidst a busy academic schedule.
“I was getting out from my Computer Science class when I had my national team call-up,” she shared ahead of Ghana’s Pink Ladies Cup game against Tanzania.
Tay, a maiden call-up, joined other talented players like Rose Baah, Diana Amoako, and Ajegipena Zakaria in the squad.
Coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s blend of youth and experience aims to strengthen Ghana’s bid for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Queens have impressed with wins against Hong Kong (4-0) and Russia (4-0), showcasing their prowess.
Tay’s inclusion adds depth to the team, and her experience from the Black Princesses (U20) will be valuable.
Ghana face Tanzania tomorrow, a tricky encounter, according to coach Björkegren. “They will be the underdogs, but we need to be sharp,” he warned.
