Former Hearts of Oak Technical Director René Hiddink’s lawyer, David Winnie, has warned that the club risks being shut down if they don’t comply with FIFA’s ruling to pay over $150,000 in compensation.
FIFA imposed a three-transfer-window registration ban on Hearts of Oak due to the unpaid debt.
Winnie stated that if the club fails to pay after the third transfer window, “sanctions will escalate. I can request relegation if that’s an option in Ghana, or I can ask for the ultimate sanction — to shut the club down entirely. “Hearts of Oak have yet to engage with Hiddink or his lawyer, with Winnie revealing, “None. Absolutely nothing,” when asked if the club had reached out for dialogue.
Winnie also ruled out any future dealings with the club, citing an irreparable relationship.
The lawyer emphasized that Hearts of Oak must pay immediately, as they are currently banned from recruiting, buying, or registering players nationally or internationally for the next three transfer windows.
Winnie plans to report back to FIFA if the debt isn’t settled after the third window, potentially triggering harsher penalties.
