Hearts of Oak’s coach, Martin Koopman, expressed the team’s determination to secure a victory in their upcoming match against Heart of Lions after their 1-1 draw with Karela United.
The Phobians faced a tough challenge during their matchday 9 encounter at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, where Emmanuel Owusu Boakye scored for the home side, and young talent Hamza Issah equalized for Hearts of Oak, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Coach Koopman acknowledged the intensity of the game and the need for a fighting spirit, emphasizing the importance of not only playing attractive football but also displaying resilience on the field. He mentioned that they had a penalty opportunity but refrained from discussing the referees.

Hearts of Oak aims to bounce back with a strong performance, and the Dutch coach’s remarks reflect the team’s determination to climb the league standings.
“It was a tough game for both sides. We did not start so good because we were 1-0 down in the first half but we came back in the second half and we got a little bit of a fighting spirit we needed,” he told StarTimes.
“We can play nice football but you also need a fighting spirit and in the second half was okay and it ended 1-1.
“We had a penalty but I don’t talk about referees so not losing, we must win our next game,” he added.
