Hapoel Tel Aviv are considering a move for Ghanaian winger Douglas Owusu, who joined Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade only in January.
The Israeli Premier League club are interested in signing the 20-year-old during the current transfer window as they look to strengthen their attacking options. However, no agreement has been reached between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Red Star Belgrade, with discussions understood to remain at an early stage.
Owusu moved to Serbia in January in a reported €2.2m deal after attracting attention with his performances in European competition. Despite his recent arrival, he could now be set for another move as he seeks regular first-team football.
The Ghanaian was included in the Red Star Belgrade squad that won both the Serbian SuperLiga title and the Serbian Cup during the second half of the 2025/26 season.
He has not made an appearance for the Serbian club this season, but remains highly regarded. Hapoel Tel Aviv view Owusu as a possible addition to their attack and are monitoring his situation during the transfer window.
A move to Israel could give Owusu the chance to play more regular senior football while continuing his development. It would also offer him another opportunity to establish himself on the European stage after his move from Ghana to Red Star Belgrade.
For now, the interest has not progressed to an agreement. Hapoel Tel Aviv and Red Star Belgrade are still at the discussion stage, leaving the winger’s immediate future unresolved.
Owusu’s position at Red Star has come amid a short spell in Serbia. He joined the club at the start of the year, but has yet to feature for the first team this season. His lack of appearances has opened the possibility of a move elsewhere, with Hapoel Tel Aviv among the clubs showing interest.
The Israeli side’s interest reflects its desire to add further attacking strength, while the proposed move could provide Owusu with the playing time he is seeking. Any transfer would therefore represent a fresh step in the Ghanaian winger’s development, following his arrival at Red Star Belgrade and his involvement in the club’s Serbian SuperLiga and Serbian Cup successes.
No deal has yet been confirmed, and the two clubs must continue their discussions before a transfer can take place.
