Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant Black Stars coaching position following the dismissal of Chris Hughton.
The entire technical team, including the former Premier League manager, was relieved of their duties after Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has set a deadline of February 2, 2024, for coach applications. Reports indicate that Stevanovic, who previously managed the Black Stars from 2011 to 2012, has submitted his application for consideration.
During his initial tenure, the 57-year-old guided the national team to the semifinals of the continental showpiece. Stevanovic brings a wealth of experience, having managed various clubs, including Cukaricki Partizan and Qingdao Jonoon.
Ghana’s early exit from the AFCON, finishing third in Group B, has prompted the search for a new coach, and Stevanovic aims for a second spell to lead the West African powerhouse back to success.
