Division One League side Golden Kick SC have been charged by the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee following their 2-1 loss to Asante Kotoko in the MTN FA Cup final.
The club is accused of breaching the GFA Disciplinary Code and Division One League Regulations.
According to the charge, “It is alleged that supporters of Golden Kick FC threw objects onto the field of play during the said match.” Additionally, the club is alleged to have made social media comments about the match officials, “which brings the competition into disrepute.”
The controversy arose after Asante Kotoko’s Kwame Opoku scored a penalty in injury time, securing a 2-1 win.
Golden Kick fans protested the decision by throwing objects onto the pitch.
The club has been given until June 18 to respond to the charges.
The charges could result in sanctions for Golden Kick SC if found guilty.
The GFA will review the club’s response and determine the outcome.
Golden Kick SC’s actions on and off the pitch have sparked scrutiny, and the club will need to defend itself against the allegations.
