The Argentinian top flight action continues on Monday and features this clash between hosts, Godoy Cruz, and their visitors, Defensa y Justicia, who sit in 19th and 20th places respectively in the 2nd phase of the Primera Division campaign.

Both teams meet at the Estadio Feliciano Gambarte.

We’re only three games into this 2nd phase of the season but both Godoy Cruz and Defensa y Justicia have made slow starts with the hosts winning one but losing the other two games as they recorded a 2-0 home win against Racing Club but lost either side of this victory away at Platense and Rosario Central respectively.

Godoy Cruz have posted a real mixed bag of results of late in the Argentinian top flight as they earlier recorded a 1-0 home win against Central Cordoba while also losing three of their last four games but the draw has dominated their overall returns to date.

Although Godoy Cruz have won just two of their last 11 matches overall, the hosts have also been involved in no fewer than five draws within this period as well, while also drawing four of their last six games at home too.

Defensa y Justicia sit one league position below their hosts but they’re level on points with Godoy Cruz as they have also been involved in a number of draws lately.

Three stalemates on the trot in their opening three games of this 2nd phase at least means Defensa have yet to lose in this period, after drawing with River Plate, Lanus and Huracan respectively.

The visitors have also found league wins hard to come by though as they have registered just two victories out of their last nine matches overall, which came in the form of wins against Union and Patronato, while two defeats and five draws make up the remainder of the results.

Results away from home though have been far more encouraging for Defensa y Justicia as the away side have lost just two of their last eight outings on the road and picking up five wins in the process, so they do bring a fair amount of confidence into this upcoming trip to the Estadio Feliciano Gambarte.

Both teams have been involved in a spate of draws lately and with four of the previous eight meetings also ending in stalemate, a draw looks to be on the cards here as well.
