Serge Gnabry left Arsenal in 2015 to join Werder Bremen in his native Germany. Just one year later, Gnabry moved to the biggest club in Germany, Bayern Munich, for only €8 million having activated a clause in his contract with Werder Bremen. Gnabry joined Hoffenheim on loan but in 2018, he made his debut for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
Gnabry has developed to become a key player in the Bayern Munich squad over the past 4 years. The winger has played a total of 171 matches for Bayern Munich in all competitions at the time of writing, scoring 64 goals and creating 40 goals for his teammates.

That means, during his time at the Allianz Arena, Gnabry has scored or created a goal in 104 of the 171 games he has played, which is a good return.
The German international has scored or created a goal in over half of his appearances in the Champions League for Bayern Munich.
During the 2021/22 season, Gnabry scored 14 times in the Bundesliga and recorded 6 assists in 34 appearances, again making a meaningful contribution in over 50% of the games he played in the German topflight last season.
The former Arsenal youngster has made it into double figures for goals in all four of his Bundesliga seasons with Bayern Munich and is averaging over a goal every 2 games for the German national team.
Interestingly, Gnabry is entering the final year of his contract with Bayern Munich and his relationship with the club seems to be deteriorating. That news will place several clubs on high alert as Gnabry could be available for a cut-price fee this summer but which teams should be making a move for the German a priority?
An obvious contender is Manchester United. Paul Pogba and Juan Mata have already left the club and Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial could be about to follow them through the exit door.
Marcus Rashford has been struggling for fitness and form, Jadon Sancho has been inconsistent, and Anthony Elanga is still developing. Gnabry will turn 27 on the 14th of July and is entering the prime of his career.
The attacking threat posed by Gnabry is clear but he is also dependable defensively, willing to press the opposition when out of possession and capable of making interceptions to win the ball back.
There is no doubt Gnabry represents a real upgrade for Manchester United out wide and he would be ideal for the system Erik ten Hag is going to employ at Old Trafford. However, both Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with a move for Gnabry.
Manchester United will feel confident they can beat Arsenal for his signature but beating Liverpool would prove difficult. Manchester United have been struggling to get signings done this summer and Gnabry would be tempted by a transfer to a team that can compete for the Premier League and Champions League.
Liverpool have lost Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich and Gnabry moving in the opposite direction would be the ideal replacement.
