On Monday night, Girona and Getafe go head-to-head in La Liga, as both teams look to pick up their first league wins of the campaign.

Girona

The home side earned promotion to La Liga by finishing sixth place in the Segunda and winning the play-offs 3-1 on aggregate against Tenerife.

They kicked off life back in La Liga by suffering a 1-0 defeat at Valencia on the opening weekend of the campaign.

The game was their fourth straight defeat in the Spanish top-flight, dating back to their last spell in the Spanish top-flight, which was in season 2018/19.

A lack of home wins in that campaign was one of the biggest reasons for Girona’s relegation back to the Segunda. In fact, they won just one of their last 13 home matches in the Spanish top-flight. That run includes losing five of their previous six league games on home soil.

Getafe

The team from the Spanish capital beat the drop by just one point last season and will be hoping to avoid a similar fate in the current campaign.

However, Quique Sanchez Flores’ team kicked off the new campaign by suffering a 3-0 home defeat to Atletico Madrid.

The loss against Diego Simeone’s team means that Getafe has now failed to win in six matches in the Spanish top-flight, having also claimed one victory in their last nine league outings.

Part of Getafe’s struggles last season was a poor away record in La Liga. In fact, the visitors have won just one of their previous 22 league matches on their travels.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that Girona will record their first win back in the Spanish top-flight in a low-scoring encounter, with Getafe suffering another defeat in the Spanish top-flight.
