Gideon Kodua came off the bench to rescue Luton Town with a late equaliser in their 1–1 draw against Bolton Wanderers at Kenilworth Road.

The English-Ghanaian forward was introduced in the 64th minute for Jacob Brown as the home side chased the game after an early setback.

Bolton struck first in the eighth minute when Kyle Dempsey drilled a low effort past the goalkeeper to give the visitors the lead.

Luton pushed forward for much of the opening half but struggled to create clear chances before the break.

The momentum shifted in the 70th minute after Bolton’s Xavier Simons was sent off following a second yellow card. With the numerical advantage, Luton increased the pressure and kept Bolton pinned in their own half.

Kodua delivered the breakthrough in the 83rd minute, latching onto a pass from Millenic Alli and guiding a left-footed finish into the centre of the goal, sparking huge cheers from the home supporters.

Both teams pushed for a late winner, but neither side found the decisive moment.

Luton now turn their attention to their upcoming EFL Trophy fixture against Exeter City on Tuesday.
