Ghana’s Laryea to Handle VAR Duties in Morocco vs Cameroon Clash

Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Laryea has been appointed as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR)  in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal clash between Morocco and Cameroon, scheduled for January 9, 2026.

Laryea, who has been officiating in the Ghana Premier League and international matches since 2012, has already served as center referee in one match so far – Algeria’s 1-0 win over Burkina Faso.

He has also held VAR duties in other games, showcasing his versatility in modern football.

Laryea will have the opportunity to showcase his exceptional officiating skills in the VAR room in the last 8 of the 2025 AFCON.
