Ghanaian winger Callum Hudson-Odoi seals victory for Nottingham Forest with late goal against West Ham

In a thrilling encounter at The City Ground, Nottingham Forest secured a memorable victory against West Ham, with English-born Ghanaian winger Callum Hudson-Odoi emerging as the hero with a late goal to seal the deal.

The match began with a lot of chances, as both teams sought to assert their dominance early on. West Ham, however, found themselves fortunate to escape an early deficit, as Nuno Tavares’ surging run down the left flank ended in Anthony Elanga’s power strike, expertly saved by the outstretched feet of Alphonse Areola.

But it was Nottingham Forest who drew first blood just before the halftime whistle, with Awoniyi showcasing his clinical prowess in front of goal.

West Ham’s hopes of a comeback suffered a severe blow in the 70th minute when Kalvin Phillips received his marching orders after picking up his second yellow card in quick succession.

As the clock ticked towards full-time, it was Hudson-Odoi who put the result beyond doubt with a composed finish from close range. Seizing upon a loose ball in the box, the former Chelsea winger made no mistake, slamming home the decisive goal and sealing Nottingham Forest’s victory in style.

The 23-year-old has made 16 appearances, scored four goals, and assisted one in the Premier League this season.
