Ghanaian-born midfielder Alhassan Baba has received his first-ever call-up to the Uganda Cranes ahead of their upcoming international friendlies this month.
Baba, who features for Romanian powerhouse FCSB (Steaua Bucharest), has been a consistent performer this season, making 21 appearances across competitions.
His impressive form has earned him a place in Paul Put’s 28-man squad for the matches against Chad and Morocco on November 15 and 19, respectively.
The defensive midfielder’s inclusion marks one of the major talking points of the squad announcement, as he becomes the latest addition to the Cranes setup since the Belgian coach renewed his contract with Uganda’s football federation.
Put’s selection also includes experienced figures such as Denis Onyango, Khalid Aucho, and Jordan Obita, alongside several locally based players from the Uganda Premier League.
The friendly against Morocco will serve as crucial tests for Uganda as they fine-tune preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where they are drawn in Group C with Tunisia, Tanzania, and Nigeria.
