Ghanaian-Swiss centre-back Gregory Wüthrich was on the scoresheet and played a key role as Sturm Graz defeated Red Bull Salzburg 4-2 in a pulsating Austrian Bundesliga Championship Group clash on Friday night at the Merkur Arena.
Wüthrich, who featured for the full 90 minutes, scored in the 48th minute after reacting quickest to a corner and finishing from close range to put Sturm 3-1 up.

Sturm took an early lead through a Terzic own goal in the 18th minute, before Bøving made it 2-0 shortly after. Salzburg pulled one back through Dorgeles before halftime, but Wüthrich’s strike in the second half and a late goal from Chukwuani ensured the hosts sealed all three points. An own goal by David Aiwu briefly gave Salzburg hope, but it wasn’t enough to stop Sturm’s momentum.

The win gives Sturm Graz a major lift in their title pursuit and also helps close the historical head-to-head gap with Salzburg now at 15 wins for Sturm against Salzburg’s 34.
Sturm are back in action on May 18 when they face Rapid Wien.
